SyncMinder ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application available on Android and iOS.
1. Information Collection and Use
a. Personal Data (Authentication)
When you sign up for SyncMinder using Google Sign-In or Apple ID, we collect and store only your email address in our database (Google Firebase Firestore). We do not collect or store your location, profile picture, or any other metadata from these providers.
b. Audio Data (Voice Reminders)
SyncMinder requests permission to access your device’s microphone.
- Purpose: To allow you to create reminders using voice commands.
- Processing: Your voice input is captured and sent to the Gemini API (by Google) to process the natural language into a structured reminder format.
- Retention: We do not store raw audio files on our servers. The processed text is used solely to generate your reminder.
c. Push Notifications
We request permission to send you push notifications to alert you of your scheduled reminders. You can opt out of these at any time through your device settings.
2. Third-Party Services and Analytics
We use the following third-party tools to improve the performance and stability of SyncMinder:
- Google Analytics for Firebase: Used to monitor general usage patterns. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual user identities.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Used to monitor app crashes and technical errors. This information is anonymous and technical in nature.
- Gemini API (Google): Used to process voice-to-text reminder data.
3. Compliance with GDPR (Europe)
If you are located in the European Union or EEA, you have the following rights:
- Access and Portability: You can request a copy of the data we hold (your email).
- Erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your account and associated email.
- Consent: We process your audio data only based on your explicit consent when you trigger the microphone.
4. Compliance with CCPA/CPRA (California)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:
- Right to Know: You can ask what specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
- Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of your personal information.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention
We retain your email address as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our database in accordance with our technical cycles.
